Simulation Engineer combines all the simulation roles available in the 3DEXPERIENCE Edu portfolio in a single role, plus all the geometry modelling functionality you’ll need to create your models. You will be able to perform complex thermal and mechanical simulations including non-linear effects like radiation, contact, and complex material responses. You will be able to evaluate a wide range of flow conditions including steady-state, transient, transonic and supersonic flows, for Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. You will be able to simulate the build process for a wide range of additive manufacturing methods and materials. Abaqus/CAE users can also use this role to connect their current Abaqus Teaching or Research License with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform allowing them to leverage the best capabilities of each.
Important notes regarding simulation:
- By default, model sizes are limited to 250,000 nodes for structural and plastics models, and 1,000,000 nodes for computational fluid dynamics simulations. Also by default, user subroutines are not supported. The Simulation Researcher role may be purchased to remove these node limits and to enable user-subroutines.
- Jobs must be executed on the same machine as the open Graphical User Interface (GUI).
- Parallel processing: Role includes support for execution on up to 4-cores for structures and plastics and 8-cores for fluids. Increased parallelization is currently not available.
For some of you, the node limits included in the Academia version of 3DEXPERIENCE will not be sufficient to support the size or accuracy requirements of your simulations. Others will need access to user subroutines to create, for example, user-defined materials, or thermal or distributed loading conditions.
The Simulation Researcher Role provides you with access to unlimited model sizes and user subroutines, identical to what is available in the commercial release.
Note that this role removes default academic limitations only; it does not include additional applications or functionality. Like all other roles, it’s assigned on a named-user basis, providing commercial-level simulation capabilities only to those that need it.
Production Engineer for Education provides an extended set of apps to enable the design, simulation, automation and control of part production as well as assembly-level production. From offline robot programming to production of ergonomic operator instructions, optimization of automated production cells and balancing of complete lines.
- It provides students with an ideal environment for experiencing the methods practiced and required by various industries, from small facilities to large multi-plant configurations and capabilities to further automate the design of assembly processes, especially in heavy industry, shipbuilding, construction, automotive and aerospace.
- Additive manufacturing preparation is strongly supported at various stages, helping optimize manufacturing strategies and communication with actual powderbed fusion manufacturing machines.
Provides you with numerous organization and work process related tools
Program Manager for Education, with its group work and deliverable management framework, allows you to automate academic work processes, to conduct multi-disciplinary, and potentially multi-year projects such as engineering student competitions, or to teach typical engineering management procedures.
- A classification management application is included to enable smart library structuring the discovery and practice of rigorous “build-or-buy” methods that drive critical behaviors in modern engineering.
- It also brings a non-geometric option for modeling systems requirements, reflecting the role of systems architects who do not need to model the functional, logical, or physical aspects of a system.
