DesignACE 2013 – Design Contest for Students

CAD Design Contest 2013

CAD Design Contest 2013

DesignACE is the annual design contest organized by Barry-Wehmiller International Resources (BWIR). DesignACE 2013 is the fifth edition of this contest for engineering students across South India.  DesignACE is expected to become a national event in the coming years.  The contest aims to nurture and bring out the ‘design thinking’ in students and in the process enable them to exhibit their creative talent to the industry.

Students across multiple streams of engineering from all over South India will present their design concepts using a SolidWorks CAD model.  Those shortlisted in the first round will be invited to either Chennai or other cities in their vicinity for the pre-finals session.  The pre-finals will consist of a live industry design problem that will be given on-the-spot.  Based on the design output, eight teams would be shortlisted for the finals, where each team will present its design concepts to a jury consisting of eminent industrialists, technologists and academicians.

Through this contest, Barry Wehmiller endeavour to encourage students of core engineering disciplines to understand and in the process appreciate the beauty and the art of design, and explore opportunities within manufacturing and engineering.

SIMTEK Professional Channel Partner for SolidWorks will engage students with Model Mania contest and the winners will be awarded with Certified SolidWorks Associate Certification coupon (Worth $100 free) followed by Workshop delivered to participants by SIMTEK Technical Professionals on Industrial Design Topics. Workshop participants will be honoured with Participation Certificate.

The winners will be awarded honours and prizes worth:

First Prize – Rs. 40,000/- & Trip to Europe*

Second Prize – Rs. 30,000/-

Third Prize – Rs. 20,000/-

First prize winners will be entitled to attend an engineering event in Europe. And if they perform well, we might even absorb them for some of our most challenging assignments!
