What's New SOLIDWORKS 2022: Top 6 feature updates in 3D CAD

In this blog, we are going to explore What's new SOLIDWORKS 2022: Top 6 feature updates in 3D CAD

1. Dimensioning Tool:

After the completion of each and every drawing dimensioning is the major process to be done to define the drawing completely. This dimension is done by using the dimensioning tool. This tool should be accessed easily to complete the work as soon as possible. And for dimensioning a circle we have three types of dimension leaders and they are radial and diametrical and linear. Considering this Solidworks 2022 has added the feature of changing dimensioning leader style from radial to diametrical or diametrical to linear or linear to radial, within the flyover toolbar. So, let’s have a deep look at this added toolbar in Solidworks 2022.

Dimensioning tool SOLIDWORKS 2021

Dimensioning in SolidWorks 2021

Here in the above image after dimensioning, to change it from radial to diametrical or diametrical to linear or linear to radial we have to go to the leader option, which is highlighted inside the RED color box, only then we are able to find the option to change the dimensioning style which we require.

Considering this Solidworks 2021 has added the dimensioning leader feature within the flyover toolbar in Solidworks 2022 version, for changing this dimensioning leader style.

Dimensioning Feature in SOLIDWORKS 2022

As mentioned above to reduce the time and easily access the tool, Solidworks 2022 has been launched with the new feature and shortcut for this dimensioning leader style of circular objects. Let’s have a detailed look into the dimensioning leader added to the flyover toolbar.

New Dimensioning feature in SolidWorks 2022

By keeping the cursor on the dimension already given and left-clicking over that displays a flyover toolbar as like in the above-mentioned image.

Click the first icon highlighted in RED color to change the dimension from diametrical or linear to radial leader style of dimensioning.

Clicking on the third icon highlighted in RED color changes the dimension from radial or diametrical to linear leader style of dimensioning.

2. Linear Pattern:

With linear patterns, you can produce numerous instances of one or more features that you may evenly space along one or two linear lines.

Let's see how the SolidWorks 2021 & 2022 version varies in the Linear pattern.

Linear pattern in SOLIDWORKS 2021

To create the linear pattern in an older version of SolidWorks, one must select the sketch and the direction.

Linear Pattern in Solidworks 2021

Here, the selected line became a part of the entities rather than the directional reference.

Linear Pattern with directional reference

Linear pattern in SOLIDWORKS 2022

In SolidWorks 2022 version, execute the same commands with the sketch. You can select a line from the same sketch that contains the entities to the pattern.

Linear Pattern using sketch in Solidworks 2022

Here, the selected line does not become a part of entities but only as a direct reference.

The changes made in new updates are very small but they can make a difference when making a complex drawing.

3. Hole Wizard:

Hole wizard is the command to simplify the following work such as making different threading standards, tapped holes, countersink, counterbore holes, changing drill sizes, screw clearances, and slots as well.

For which we just need to click on the type of hole or thread as per requirement. Time saved is comparatively high than manually finding, fixing, and creating holes or slots by means of other commands.

The hole wizard tool is presently improvised with slotting tool feature by changing the direction or position of the slot by simply clicking the TAB key.

Hole wizard in SOLIDWORKS 2021

Hole Wizard in Solidworks 2021

As shown in the above image to change the orientation of the slot we have to change the control vertex parameters. And we need to give relations like a parallel to change the degree of orientation.

Thus the orientation is changed by means of changing all the above-mentioned parameters.

Besides the older version of SolidWorks allows the user to change the orientation of the slot after changing the relations.

Hole wizard in SOLIDWORKS 2022

Hole Wizard in Solidworks 2022 - Horizontal orientation Hole Wizard in Solidworks 2022 - Vertical orientation

The user needs to only Press the Tab option to change the orientation accordingly.

This saves a lot of time for designers/engineers to meet their deadline at right time.

4. Predefined Views:

In SolidWorks 2021 version, the user cannot specify the model orientation as a trimetric, dimetric, or flat pattern.

But in the upgraded version, the user can create a predefined view and also be able to specify the model orientation as a trimetric, dimetric, or flat pattern in a drawing. This is very useful for the user who needs to create a drawing template that contains specific predefined views.

Predefined Views: SOLIDWORKS 2021 Vs 2022

Now you can create the predefined view and specify the model orientation as Flat Pattern, Trimetric, and Dimetric.

5. Rotating a section view about an Axis or Hole:

In this feature, the user can rotate the section view plane through an axis, temporary axis, hole, or cylindrical face.

In the SolidWorks 2021 version, there is a feature for section view in the different planes like Front Plane, Top Plane, and Right Plane. However, the edge or axis feature that is not available in SolidWorks 2021 Version.

SOLIDWORKS 2022 brings many new exciting features and improvements. My personal favorite is the mirror feature in the above-discussed topics. What's your favorite feature update in SOLIDWORKS 2022? Comment below!

Sheet metal Costing in SOLIDWORKS

Sheet Metal Costing: How to choose the right budget for your project?

Introduction: Sheet Metal Costing in SOLIDWORKS

The SOLIDWORKS Costing tool helps you calculate how much it costs to manufacture sheet metal, machined, multi-body parts, and assemblies, as well as plastic molded cast, 3D printed parts, and multibody weldments by automating the cost estimation and quotation process.

Solidworks sheet metal costing

Steps involved in evaluating the Cost of a Sheet Metal Part:

The software depends on the un suppressing of flat patterns in sheet metal parts to determine the cut paths. If you apply costing to a sheet metal part for which the flat pattern cannot be unsuppressed that leads to incorrect costing.

Step 1:

In a sheet metal part, click Costing (Tools toolbar or the Evaluate tab on the Command Manager) or Tools > SOLIDWORKS Applications > Costing.

Solidworks sheet metal costing menu

If there is enough information in the sheet metal template, and if the part has a material assigned to it that matches the template, a cost estimate is calculated and the Costing Task Pane displays the Estimated Cost Per Part.

If there is not enough information in the template, or if you want to edit the Costing input values, follow the steps below.

Step 2:

Under Costing Template, select a template. Default templates are available or you can create templates to use custom manufacturing data. Lets see how to create a new Sheet Metal Template.

Costing Task pane

In Material section, select Class, Name, and Thickness from template if they are not populated. The Class, Name, and Thickness from template are populated if the material in the part matches the sheet metal template.

The Material cost is the cost in the template for the selected Class, Name, and Thickness from template combination. You can override Material cost without editing the template. Overrides affect only the part that is open, not the template. If you override Material cost, the field appears in yellow.

Step 3:

Select Stock Type from Template and choose Material Weight. Select an item to define the material usage under area to cost option. Under Quantity, set the Total number of parts and Lot size.

Optionally, under Markup/Discount, adjust the material cost or the total cost using a percentage factor.

Blank size in costing pane

The software extracts material information from the material set in the part and performs a cost estimate. The Costing Manager displays manufacturing features such as cut paths and bends in the part. The Costing Task Pane displays the Estimated Cost Per Part.

Click Begin Cost Estimation.

Begin cost evaluation

Finally, the Solidworks Sheet metal cost was calculated.

Estimated cost per part

What factors affect sheet metal costing?

There are many factors that affect sheet metal costing in SOLIDWORKS. They are

    • Size and complexity of the part
    • Type of metal
    • Thickness of the metal
    • Quantity of parts

In addition, the process used to create the part also affects the cost.

For example, parts formed using stamping will typically cost more than products produced using laser cutting. This is because stamping requires more expensive dies and tooling.

If you're looking to reduce the cost of your sheet metal parts, there are a few things you can do. You can try to simplify the design of the part.

When estimating the price of sheet metal products, there are a number of other costs that must be considered.

These include the cost of

    • Raw materials
    • Labor
    • Shipping
    • Any Finishes/coatings applied to the product.

Do's and Don'ts in SolidWorks Sheet Metal Costing

1. DO use the correct material properties

If you're not sure what the right material properties are for your part, check out our tutorial on How to Create Material Properties in SOLIDWORKS here.

2. DON'T use the same material properties as the parent part

You should never use the same material properties for a child part as the parent part. This will cause the child part to inherit the material properties of the parent part. Instead, you need to set up the material properties for the child part separately.

3. DO make sure you have enough detail

If you're not careful, you might end up with a lot of unnecessary detail in your model. It's easy to add too much detail, especially if you're trying to save time by creating a quick model. However, there's no reason why you can't keep things simple while still getting the job done.

4. DON'T forget to add the thicknesses

You should always make sure that you add the thicknesses of each part as well as any holes or other features. This will help you calculate the total weight of the parts and ensure that you've got everything right.

5. DO check the accuracy of the results.

If you're not happy with the results, then you need to double check them. Make sure that you've added the correct thicknesses and that you haven't missed anything out. Also, make sure that you've entered the correct material properties into the model.

Benefits of Using Sheet Metal Costing in SolidWorks

1. Calculate Material Costs

SOLIDWORKS Sheet metal costing allows engineers to calculate material costs based on the size and shape of the part designed. Engineers can use these calculations to determine how much material will be needed to manufacture a particular product. They can also compare different materials to find out which one is cheaper.

2. Reduce Labor Costs

One of the biggest advantages of using this sheet metal cost estimating software is that it reduces labor costs. This is because it eliminates the need for manual labor to measure and cut parts. It also helps reduce scrap rates since it's easier to predict where cuts should be made.

3. Save Time

There are several different ways to use this SOLIDWORKS add-on feature. You can use it as a standalone program, or you can integrate it into your CAD system. If you're looking to save money, then you might consider purchasing a third-party solution. However, if you're looking to improve productivity, then you should consider integrating the software directly into your SOLIDWORKS CAD system.

4. Increase Productivity

You can easily determine material prices for each aspect of your project using sheet metal cost estimating software.
This takes strategic material decision making and avoids the need to redesign parts later.  It also saves time by eliminating the need to manually enter data.

5. Avoid Errors

If you're looking for a more efficient way to estimate your product's sheet metal costs, then you should consider using a sheet metal cost estimating program. These programs allow you to easily calculate material costs for each component of your design. You can use these estimates to help you make better decisions regarding material selection and reduce the need to rework your designs later on. They also save you time because you won’t have to manually enter data into spreadsheets.

SOLIDWORKS Interference Detection How to Identify Fix and Avoid it

SOLIDWORKS Interference Detection: How to Identify, Fix, and Avoid it?

SOLIDWORKS Interference detection: How to Identify, Fix, and Avoid interference?

Interference detection is the process of finding and fixing errors or issues with your design. It can be difficult to know where to start when your model starts to feel like a minefield of problems. In this article, you will learn how SOLIDWORKS interference checking tools can help you find and fix many common mistakes in your models.

4 Steps to fix interference detection in SOLIDWORKS

SOLIDWORKS has a built-in interference detection tool which can be used to identify potential interferences between mating parts. The steps to check for interference are as follows:

1. Open the assembly file and select the mating parts to be checked for interference.
2. Click on the interference detection tool under the Assembly toolbar.
3. The interference detection window will open up. Select the appropriate options and click on the OK button.
4. SOLIDWORKS will check for interferences between the selected parts and generate a report.

In the below example we will be analyzing component interference's found within the assembly interference, and  detection analyzes geometry.

How to identify Interference detection in SOLIDWORKS?

First, Interference detection is found within “Evaluate tab” in tools.

"Click Tools --> Evaluate --> Interference Detection"

Interference detection tool tab

Note: It is easy to see interference's but sometimes it can be difficult to determine. By default, the selected component will be assembly. You can delete it by right-clicking on the name of the assembly and delete.

To select new parts, click on the desired area in the Graphics window.

Here, the components are overlapped as shown in below assembly image.

Overlapped component - interference detection

How to solve it?

To solve we need to calculate interference's within the entire assembly or specify components and then calculate for entire component.

As a result, the interference detection highlights the overlapping volumes of both components as transparent object.

Highlighted component - interference detection

Next, check the mates associated with the component using view mates tool option. Now we know the distance between the two interfering components.

View Mates Option Edit coincidence mate - interference detection

Adjust the dimension & check for interference till you can see there are no longer any interference between the selected components. After making all the corrections, functionality between the components is  .

SOLIDWORKS had easy to change the distance and the overlapping issues have been resolved.

Edit distance mate  Results section

Interference detection was great for static interference's when it comes to dynamic collisions we need to use a different tool the move component command contains a collision detection feature will check collisions between all components.

Interference detection can be useful to ensure that the component has the desired level of motion.

How to avoid Interference and enhance detection results?

There are a few things you can do to help ensure accurate interference detection results:

1. Properly define all mating surfaces.
2. Place all components in the correct orientation.
3. Use mating pairs wherever possible.
4. Check your results carefully, and correct any errors.

SOLIDWORKS interference detection helps you identify and fix problems with your designs before they cause issues during manufacturing.

Electrical Connection Points & Auto routing wires Blog

How to Create Electrical connection points & Auto-routing wires?

How to create Electrical connection points and Auto-routing wires?

In this blog post, I will explain both electrical connection points & auto-routing wires in SOLIDWORKS and provide some useful tips on how you can achieve them faster, and easier.

Creating connections between electrical components is a very common task in electrical design. These connections often need to be made and verified before moving on or even before the schematic capture stage. Auto-routing wires to make connections and keep track of which connection goes where is also a common requirement for electrical designers.

Let's look at the below example.

The Contactor is an Electrical component designed in SOLIDWORKS. The function of this electrical component is to act as a fuse. This is the Device that protects every other component.

When creating an electrical connection, a connector connection point specifies where mating connections should be positioned.

Electrical Component Connection Points

Steps to create Electrical connection points and auto-generate routing wires

Step 1:

In order to create an Electrical connection point, we need to find the component wizard in the toolbar.

The electrical component wizard tool can be found by clicking Tools --> SOLIDWORKS Electrical --> Electrical component wizard. By clicking this, a new tab will be opened as shown in the below image.

Electrical Component Wizard

Step 2:

Click on the Routing Component Wizard tab --> Routing Functionality points --> Add.

It will direct you to the SOLIDWORKS component file.

Routing Component Wizard

Step 3: Add a C point to the component for wire connection

Once the existing sketch is selected you can able to find the red arrow. This arrow shows the direction of the terminal in which wires will be get connected.

Add C Point to component for wire connection

After adding C points, wire routing will be auto-generated.

Auto routing Wire generation

When you've completed all of the component checkpoints. The wire will be automatically connected to those places. The schematic will automatically link the components.

Benefits of using SOLIDWORKS Electrical routing:

  1. Using SOLIDWORKS electrical helps you to save time in creating simplified wire routing for your design.
  2. Provides you the flexibility to change your wire route at any point in time which will also automatically update drawings accordingly.

Mistakes to avoid in SOLIDWORKS Electrical routing:

1. Don't use the wrong units

One of the most common mistakes made by new users is using the wrong units when creating electrical diagrams. You should always use metric units such as milliamps (mA), volts (V), ohms (Ω), and amps (A). If you're unsure what unit to use, check out our guide on choosing the right units.

2. Don't forget to include the ground plane

Another mistake that's easy to make is forgetting to include the ground plane in your electrical diagram. This is especially true if you're drawing a circuit with multiple phases. In this case, each phase will need its own ground plane.

3. Don't forget to add the neutral wire

If you've ever worked on a project where you had to run wires through walls, floors, ceilings, and other structures, then you know how difficult it can be to find a good place to route them. You might even end up running into walls, floors, and ceilings again as you try to figure out where to put the next one.

4. Don't forget to connect the wires properly

One of the biggest mistakes people make when routing cables is forgetting to connect them together. This means that you'll need to cut off the ends of each wire before connecting them together.

5. Don't forget to check the continuity

Double-check the wires connection. You can do this by checking the continuity between two points. Simply select one point and then another, and click the Continuity button. If the connection is correct, the light will turn green.

Thus in this blog, I have shared everything you need to know to create electrical connection points and auto-generated routing wires in SOLIDWORKS. I hope this article makes you learn about the benefits and things to remember & mistakes to avoid in wire routing between electrical components.

If you have any difficulties, kindly reach out to our technical experts for immediate assistance.

Empty SOLIDWORKS Drawing Views

An Easy Guide to Resolve Empty SOLIDWORKS Drawing Views

An Easy Guide to Resolve Empty SOLIDWORKS Drawing Views

A troubleshooting guide is always useful to have at hand when working with a new program. You never know when you’ll run into a hurdle that needs to be solved. In this post, we’ll take you through a troubleshooting guide for empty SOLIDWORKS drawing views.

Read on for more details about this topic and tips that may help you solve the problem in a more efficient manner.

What is a drawing view?

A drawing view is a type of dynamic sheet that is used to display information about a model. It is created using an embedded sheet and a dynamic sheet.

You can have multiple drawings open at the same time, and each drawing has an independent sheet with its own properties. When you close any one of them, it will also close all the other drawings that are other sub-elements of that sheet.

The embedded sheet displays the model, and the dynamic sheet is what you see when you open the drawing. In other words, the embedded sheet is the model, and the dynamic sheet is the cover sheet.

What are empty drawing views?

Empty drawing views are a problem related to the missing view on a sheet while drawing. It is a very common issue in SOLIDWORKS, and it can happen for many different reasons.

One reason why you may see an empty sheet is because of missing views. When these are missing, the sheet will show nothing. In short, if there are no views showing on a sheet, it won’t show anything.

Another reason why you may see an empty sheet is that you have an issue with the view settings of the sheet. When these are set to invisible, the sheet view will show nothing.

If you are experiencing the problem that all the views of the sheet are missing, then you can try the following solutions.

How to find empty drawing views in SOLIDWORKS?

As mentioned previously, empty drawing views are caused by missing or hidden views on a sheet. You can easily spot them because the sheet will be completely empty.

There are two ways to find out if you have any empty drawing views. The first one is by using the View Status command. Simply click on the status bar at the top of the drawing area, and you will see this option.

The second way is by using the View Control command. This is found under the View menu, and it gives you more options related to the views on a sheet.

Solve the problem with SOLIDWORKS Drawing Views

The most efficient way to solve the problem with SOLIDWORKS drawing views is by changing the view settings of the sheet. If you have an empty sheet because of hidden views, you can simply change the view settings of the sheet to visible.

You can also change the options by right-clicking on the sheet tab and selecting the view settings from the context menu. In both cases, you will have the view settings visible on the sheet.

If you don’t want the sheet to show anything, simply change the settings to invisible. If you want to display something, change the settings accordingly.

Simply changing the view settings of the sheet won’t solve the problem, but it will at least let you see something. You should also change the view settings in the model so that it overrides the settings of the sheet.

Solve the problem with Empty SOLIDWORKS Drawing Views

In SOLIDWORKS do you view empty views when you open the drawing?

Where did the views and notes go?

Empty SOLIDWORKS Drawing views

We are not happy to see our drawing views displayed like the above image right?

Let's dig deep and know why it is happening.

What causes views to be empty?

What happened was that the model(s) may have been moved from their previous folder to another folder, but the drawing is not updated with references, so it opens with blank displays Because the specified model drawing does not expect it to be.

If the drawing is already open while the model is moved to the new location, the issue is now resolved. The drawing reference will be updated.

How to resolve the empty view Issue?

  • Close the drawing (no need to save)
  • Next, we have to choose Solidworks Home tab > resent document > reference

Select references

Select File --> Open --> Select the drawing, but do not open yet --> References --> Double-click the model --> browse to the model’s new location

SOLIDWORKS Drawing - importing assembly

Double-click the model to browse to its new location.

SOLIDWORKS Drawing - Edit reference file

The new folder path dialog box will be displayed in green and press OK to confirm the change

Now, we need to select the recent drawing.

Select drawing in documents

Thus drawing Views are now populated!

Resolved empty SOLIDWORKS Drawing views

The drawing will now be displayed in all views, and all Annotations will be displayed.

In this article, we discussed a troubleshooting guide for empty SOLIDWORKS drawing views.

We looked at what a drawing view is, what are empty drawing views? and how to find out if you have an empty drawing view on a sheet?

We also discussed how to solve the problem with SOLIDWORKS drawing views, and provided solutions for both the model and sheet view settings.

We hope this guide will help you solve the problem more quickly and efficiently.

SOLIDWORKS 3D INTERCONNECT : It’s Not as Difficult as You Think

SOLIDWORKS 3D Interconnect and Extracting Features

The SOLIDWORKS 3D InterConnect feature enables you to create solid models from other CAD data, including CATIA and Pro/Engineer. Extracting allows for the ability to reverse engineer parts using SOLIDWORKS by removing material from a complete part, generating features that were cut during the process.

SOLIDWORKS has the capability to work with third-party native CAD data files which include ACIS, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA v5 (.CAT part, .CAT Product), IGES, PTC, SOLID EDGE, NX files as shown in Fig(A)

SOLIDWORKS 3D Interconnect

Importing STEP/IGES files and Extracting the Features

SOLIDWORKS has a special option to extract and recognize all the features from other CAD files or STEP/IGES files.

Let us see the step by step process for extracting features from a STEP file

Step 1:

SOLIDWORKS 3D Interconnect importing step file

Fig (B)

Open a STEP file directly into SOLIDWORKS. Once after opening, the part will be viewed as an imported STEP part as shown in fig (C)

The cable reference properties tab will be opened. We have to provide our specification which includes dia,, color, cores, core dia these are the important things needed to be updated in the property tab

Electrical Cable properties

STEP 3: Assign cable core properties

Cable core properties are found on the same tab as the third choice at the top. There, we must enter the number of cores required for the cable.

electrical cable core properties

We must also indicate the dia of the core we require, as well as control over whether it is a miscellaneous, power, or neutral core. This tab also allows users to pick the colors of the cores.

STEP 4: Assign cable between components

After we have built the new cable, we must place it and assign it to the components that require it.

associate cable cores

Wires are drawn & cable is created after the components have been placed.

STEP 5: Associate cable cores

Now, we must use the new cable option to add the cable to the associated cable cores tab. After that, we must choose the cable we made in the library manager.

At the bottom, we must select four wires in addition to the four cores.

After choosing all of them, we should use the associate cable cores option at the top of the page as shown in the below image.

how to use image tracer power tool in Draftsight

How to Use Image Tracer Power Tool in DraftSight

How to Use Image tracer Power Tool in DraftSight?

DraftSight is free CAD software that is easy to learn and use. It provides powerful tools for 2D and 3D design, allowing you to create complex models. One of these tools is the power tool.

A power tool is a plugin that provides an alternate way to do something in DraftSight. Power tools can help with things like rendering, text editing, and joining solids.

This post will teach you about the power tool available in Draftsight - Image tracer and how to install one if you need it in your workflow.

The Image Tracer

The image tracer power tool is a plugin that allows you to create a trace of an image. It's useful for quickly generating models from actual images instead of having to spend hours modeling them. The software reads the pixel information of the image and creates a 3D model as it processes the information. This saves time in DraftSight because you don't have to manually model everything yourself.

Image tracer is an example of a power tool. It can be found on the Plugins tab under More Tools > Image Tracer. It's easy to install; all you need to do is unpack it and then double-click the .dcr file. Installing it will automatically place a shortcut on your desktop for you to use later if you need it in your workflow.

How to install the Image Tracer?

When you open the DraftSight software, you'll notice it has a blue toolbar near the top and a ribbon across the top. If you click on that toolbar, there will be an option for plugins. Click on that and then scroll down until you find "Image Tracer."

Click on "Image Tracer" to install it in your DraftSight software. This plugin is one of many tools available (we are only focusing on this one).

After installing the plugin in your DraftSight software, you'll notice there's now an extra bar at the bottom of your screen. There will also be a new icon at the top right corner of your ribbon that represents Image Tracer.

The 3 things you need to know about the Image tracer power tool

    • Convert raster images in .bmp, png, and .jpg formats into accurate and editable lines and curves in DWG files.
    • The images can range widely from floor plans to artistic logos saving massive time and tedious effort to manually retrieve and edit the image elements.
    • Image tracer feature is available in all versions except Draftsight standard.

    1. When you select the image tracer feature, it shows the property manager of it.
    2. Here you can select the profile type to convert as.
    3. Attach an image that wants to be converted as dwg
    4. In this case, I use the SOLIDWORKS logo, so selecting the type as logo
  • After selecting the type of profile, it prompts for selecting the image
  • Select the starts converting
  • You can use the transparency option to change the transparency of the image or you can use the hide image check box to hide the image
  • As a result, here is the logo of SOLIDWORKS. Using the join command, I can join the individual lines.

Now that you know what the power tools in DraftSight are, you’re ready to start using them.

The Image Tracer lets you take a picture of anything and automatically converts it into a traceable, editable 2D line drawing. This is easier than drawing it all by hand, and is a great way to reuse, cut, and paste.

How Simulation Software Can Help You Optimize Your Industrial Processes?

How Simulation Software Can Help You Optimize Your Industrial Processes?

Definition and benefits of industrial simulation software

Industrial simulation software helps engineers optimize industrial processes. Simulation software can predict the behavior of a product or process under different conditions. This information can help engineers troubleshoot problems and improve products and processes. The benefits of using industrial simulation software include:

      • Reduced manufacturing time and cost
      • Improved product quality
      • More efficient use of resources
      • Enhanced safety

Simulation software can also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of a process after it has been implemented. The user can then experiment with different variables to find the best solution.

For example, simulation software can be used to optimize the performance of a machine tool. The user may want to determine how different speeds, feeds, and depths affect tool wear and part quality. Simulation software can simulate many different combinations of these variables, allowing the user to try out different solutions and determine which combination is best.

      • How fast should the machine run?
      • What is the ideal speed for cutting & best cut depth?
      • What is the most efficient feed rate?

The answers to these questions depend on many factors including material type and cost as well as part accuracy and tolerance requirements. Simulation software allows users to experiment with different combinations and find an optimal solution that meets all design constraints.

How to use CAE and CFD to optimize your industrial processes?

There are two main types of simulation software used by industrial engineers

      1. CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering)
      2. CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)

What is CAE software & its applications?

CAE software is used to analyze a product's structure & optimize the design of a product. Thus make sure it meets all structural criteria, such as weight, strength, or stiffness.

For example, FEA can help you optimize your product design to make sure it is structurally sound.

    CAE Software

This Finite Element Analysis software in the aerospace industry is applied to optimize aircraft design and make sure that aircraft components are structurally sound.

Structural analysis software is often used in the automotive industry to make sure that car parts are structurally sound and meet safety regulations.

For example, structural analysis software helps you to analyze the strength of your car's frame and body panels or the stiffness of your car's suspension system.

What is CFD Software & its applications?

CFD software is used to analyze the fluid flow and heat transfer. It has become an integral aspect of the engineering design process, facilitating designers in improving their problem-solving skills.

    CFD Software

Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation software also provides valuable information to make decisions, rather than relying on guesswork or intuition. It is a very useful tool for engineers in any field, but especially in the case of mechanical engineering.

In fact, it is now common for mechanical engineers to use CFD modelling and analysis in order to design anything from cars and planes to ships and turbines.

For example, CFD software can help you optimize your process layout to minimize energy consumption and production costs.
